Biography

Born in La Ceiba, Monseñor Nouel, Dominican Republic, the renowned artist, arranger, and composer Nelson Mendoza, better known as Nelson de la Olla, began his musical studies at the age of 15. Son of the late Ana Julia Batista and Horacio Mendoza, he showed exceptional talent from an early age, which led him to become part of the main musical groups of his hometown, Bonao.

Thanks to his creativity and musical ability, Nelson de la Olla quickly stood out as a composer, with his songs being performed by well-known Dominican bands such as Los Toros Band, Los Hermanos Rosario, Héctor Acosta, and La Coco Band, among others.

In 1996, he decided to start his own musical project, giving birth to “La Banda Chula,” through which his career experienced a remarkable rise both nationally and internationally. Nelson de la Olla is a Dominican pride, representing with dignity and passion the talent of his homeland both at home and abroad.
